Meet our team

  • Jason Schack - Pastor to students

Joanna and I are overwhelmed by God’s incredible love, grace and sovereignty in life!  We are both so thankful to have the privilege to serve at this amazing church!  God has been working in powerful ways in this youth ministry for many years.   We feel so blessed to have this leadership team alongside us to love, encourage, support and disciple these students.

Our biggest blessing in life is our three children, Ansley, Ashlyn and John Luke.  Needless to say…there is never a dull moment in our home!

Joanna Graduated from Florida State University and works as a Speech Pathologist.  She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.  Although, time away from the kids is few and far between in this season of life!

Outside of church and spending time with my family, I enjoy the outdoors being in Gods beautiful country.  Whether its golf, hunting or fishing…this is where I relax. I graduated from UCF and I am currently working on my Master’s Degree in Christian Education.  Prior to God calling me to FBC Melbourne I was a teacher at Melbourne High School for 9 years.  My passion is working with teenage students from all walks of life.  I realize magnitude of this position that God has placed me in and I will lean on him for wisdom and direction every step of the way (Proverbs 3:5-6).

  • Casey - Assistant Youth Director

We are so excited and blessed to be apart of Reclaimed Youth Group. We both graduated from University of Central Florida. I am currently a middle school history teacher at Stone Magnet Middle School and my wife teaches 4th grade at Creel Elementary. We are happy to announce that God has blessed us with a baby coming this December!

Laura & I love being outdoors, playing sports, and enjoying time spent with family. One of my favorite things to do is to fish but I will admit my wife definitely out fishes me (or so she claims). A favorite life verse of ours is Romans 8:28 “and we know all things work together for the good of those who love him.”

I am thrilled to be joining Jason as the Assistant Youth Director and it is a privilege every week to spend time with the youth students. I feel blessed to be apart of this family and see what God has in store for the Reclaimed Youth. To God to be glory.

  • Eric Vici - Worship Leader

Eric and Linda Vici have been married since 2006 and have two children named Ella and Jocelyn. After being married the Lord called them both at the same time to His family during a service at Calvary Chapel in February of 2007 which they feel was the Lord blessing their marriage. Although Eric began playing the electric bass guitar in 1990, he only started leading worship with the electric bass guitar in 2007. Fast forward to 2015 where the Lord called Eric to begin leading worship for the Reclaimed Student Ministry at First Baptist of Melbourne. Eric's family was called to leave Calvary Chapel and attend First Baptist of Melbourne only a few months later. Since that time the Lord has blessed them with a new home, new friends and a growing ministry all for the glory of God.

  • Dan and Kate Carter - middle school teachers

First and foremost, I am a child of the King!  I am a wife to my amazing husband, Dan, and the mother of three precious little girls.  I feel so blessed to be serving in the youth alongside my husband and look forward to what the Lord is doing and will continue to do in the lives of these students. I love the scripture 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  In my free time, I love to cook, read, and craft.

God has blessed me with my amazing wife Kate Carter and 3 little girls Payton (5 years old), Adison (3 years old) and Avery (2 years old). I am a FBC Melbourne Youth Group Alum. It is my desire to serve as a vessel for Jesus Christ in working with the youth at FBC Melbourne. I am so thankful to God for the people that taught me and loved me as a youth.

In my professional life, I have served as an educator for the past 10 years at Palm Bay High School and Audubon Elementary. At Palm Bay High I worked with 9th-12th grade students as a teacher, coach and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Coach.

Of special note- I have Jason Schack's autograph.

  • Megan Wilson - middle school teacher

I was raised here in Melbourne and Jesus saved me at the age of 13. In high school I felt the Lord calling me to serve Him in full-time ministry. I married my wonderful husband Scott in 2005 and moved to North Carolina and received my bachelors degree in Biblical studies there at The College at Southeastern. We answered the call to come home and serve the Lord here in Melbourne in 2009.  I have three amazing and fun boys, Silas (6), Micah (4) and Titus (1).

  • John Butler - middle school teacher

I have been married to my sweetie, Lynn, for 33 years. Our little boy, Matt, is a junior at UF. I enjoy photography, playing and watching soccer and in my spare time I am an electrical engineer at Intersil. I have a heart for students and it is my privilege to help serve and equip them. I am so blessed to be a part of our Reclaimed Student Ministry at First Baptist of Melbourne.

  • Jill Johnson - middle school teacher

My name is Jill Johnson. I've lived in Florida my entire life, have been a member at FBC Melbourne for about 5 1/2 years. I've been teaching Physical Education at a local middle school for 10 years and was encouraged to start FCA at my school this year by our very own Jason Schack and Dan Carter and that experience has given me a completely new outlook on how to minister to my students!! I am very excited to be working with the Reclaimed youth group and can't wait to see what lies ahead!!

  • Vanessa Manning - middle school teacher

I was born and raised right here in Melbourne, Florida, and am proud (you read that right) to be a third generation Melbourne native!  I graduated from Melbourne High School (go Bulldogs!), and FBC Melbourne has been my church home since I was 11-years-old.  I am really looking forward to giving back and serving in a ministry that did so much to shape my life and my walk with the Lord!

I have been happily married to my incredible husband, Chris, since 2002, and we have two amazing and beautiful daughters that bring us a lot of joy, and keep us on our toes!  I help with Awana during the school year as director of the 5th and 6th grade class, and every summer I look forward to volunteering at our VBS.  Some of my favorite things to do are date my husband, spend time with my family, and I also enjoy writing, reading, acting, and singing, but my favorite pastime of all might just be sleeping! ("Work hard, nap hard!") I'm definitely looking forward to serving and getting to know the students of the Reclaimed Youth group!

  • Eddie and Rye Myers - 10th grade teachers

We are excited to be part of FBC and part of the youth ministry!

Eddie & I are both from NC, grew up in Christian homes, and committed our lives to the Lord in our early teen years.  We met in college in Raleigh, NC, got married two years later and moved to Florida.  While working full time, we went through our Masters programs together @ UCF and FIT, and currently both work as Program Managers at Harris.

God has strengthened our relationship with each other and our relationship with Him through various trials placed in our path.   "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." ~James 1:2-4

One of our greatest blessings are our 2 girls, Ali (6) and Avery (4) [as of July 2015]!  They are our little disciples in training and we love the example that the youth are setting for them!

In our time together we love embarking on new adventures, swimming, boating and just spending time outdoors, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation and making special memories together.

Our prayer for us, our children, and the youth is Romans 12:2 - "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

We are filled with so much joy by seeing God at work in and through this youth group.  We are excited to see what God has in store for this faith family!
