First I wanted to share with you the story of how I became a child of God. A little background on my story, I grew up as a pastor’s kid so I have been attending church since the beginning of time. My first memory of church was when I was five and I remember going to the altar and saying the sinners prayer and later that night talking with my dad about salvation. To be honest, I am not sure that was salvation for me. Later on in my life, I was blessed to have a teacher that asked me “ Wryan, what does your personal relationship with God look like? Do you read your Bible? Do you pray?” I didn’t have a good answer because that didn’t exist in my day to day life outside of the church and the times prompted by my family. There was no personal relationship going on with God at all. I truly didn’t have a regenerate heart. That day because of my teachers, pastors, and mentors that were willing to ask me the hard questions I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior. My life changed after that. I began to have a hunger and thirst for God.
As far as my calling for student ministry. I surrendered my life to full time ministry as a Senior in high school. My youth pastors had a tremendous impact on my life, and I just want to be an arrow pointing teenagers to Christ. I have been blessed to be in full time student ministry for 8 years now.always felt a calling to do student ministry long term.
Joanna and I are overwhelmed by God’s incredible love, grace and sovereignty in life! We are both so thankful to have the privilege to serve at this amazing church! God has been working in powerful ways in this youth ministry for many years. We feel so blessed to have this leadership team alongside us to love, encourage, support and disciple these students.
Our biggest blessing in life is our three children, Ansley, Ashlyn and John Luke. Needless to say…there is never a dull moment in our home!
Joanna Graduated from Florida State University and works as a Speech Pathologist. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. Although, time away from the kids is few and far between in this season of life!
Outside of church and spending time with my family, I enjoy the outdoors being in Gods beautiful country. Whether its golf, hunting or fishing…this is where I relax. I graduated from UCF and I am currently working on my Master’s Degree in Christian Education. Prior to God calling me to FBC Melbourne I was a teacher at Melbourne High School for 9 years. My passion is working with teenage students from all walks of life. I realize magnitude of this position that God has placed me in and I will lean on him for wisdom and direction every step of the way (Proverbs 3:5-6).
First and foremost, I am a child of the King! I am a wife to my amazing husband, Dan, and the mother of three precious little girls. I feel so blessed to be serving in the youth alongside my husband and look forward to what the Lord is doing and will continue to do in the lives of these students. I love the scripture 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” In my free time, I love to cook, read, and craft.
God has blessed me with my amazing wife Kate Carter and 3 little girls Payton (5 years old), Adison (3 years old) and Avery (2 years old). I am a FBC Melbourne Youth Group Alum. It is my desire to serve as a vessel for Jesus Christ in working with the youth at FBC Melbourne. I am so thankful to God for the people that taught me and loved me as a youth.
In my professional life, I have served as an educator for the past 10 years at Palm Bay High School and Audubon Elementary. At Palm Bay High I worked with 9th-12th grade students as a teacher, coach and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Coach.
I was raised here in Melbourne and Jesus saved me at the age of 13. In high school I felt the Lord calling me to serve Him in full-time ministry. I married my wonderful husband Scott in 2005 and moved to North Carolina and received my bachelors degree in Biblical studies there at The College at Southeastern. We answered the call to come home and serve the Lord here in Melbourne in 2009. I have three amazing and fun boys, Silas (6), Micah (4) and Titus (1).
I have been married to my sweetie, Lynn, for 39 years. Our little boy, Matt, is a UF grad and counselor working in Gainesville. I enjoy photography, playing and watching soccer and in my spare time I am an electrical engineer at L3Harris. I have a heart for students and it is my privilege to help serve and equip them. I am so blessed to be a part of our FBCMel Reclaimed Student Ministry.
My name is Jill Johnson. I've lived in Florida my entire life, have been a member at FBC Melbourne for about 5 1/2 years. I've been teaching Physical Education at a local middle school for 10 years and was encouraged to start FCA at my school this year by our very own Jason Schack and Dan Carter and that experience has given me a completely new outlook on how to minister to my students!! I am very excited to be working with the Reclaimed youth group and can't wait to see what lies ahead!!
I was born and raised right here in Melbourne, Florida, and am proud (you read that right) to be a third generation Melbourne native! I graduated from Melbourne High School (go Bulldogs!), and FBC Melbourne has been my church home since I was 11-years-old. I am really looking forward to giving back and serving in a ministry that did so much to shape my life and my walk with the Lord!
I have been happily married to my incredible husband, Chris, since 2002, and we have two amazing and beautiful daughters that bring us a lot of joy, and keep us on our toes! I help with Awana during the school year as director of the 5th and 6th grade class, and every summer I look forward to volunteering at our VBS. Some of my favorite things to do are date my husband, spend time with my family, and I also enjoy writing, reading, acting, and singing, but my favorite pastime of all might just be sleeping! ("Work hard, nap hard!") I'm definitely looking forward to serving and getting to know the students of the Reclaimed Youth group!
We have been members of First Baptist since 1993. We have worked in the youth department since 1999. We have taught every grade but 7th. We love working with the youth. We have two boys Gregory who is currently in college and Kevin who is currently in college. It is our joy to see what God is doing in the youth department. We enjoy having our Sunday School class over, especially for a pool party. In our spare time we enjoy traveling and being in the pool. Len is an attorney and Mary works with him in the office.
The "grand parents" of the youth department cheerfully serve the Lord and Savior, loving on our youth. Believing that they are all the future of our world, we have been serving in the youth department, and have been there since the beginning of time. (Jeri graduated from Melbourne High School). James, serving a a deacon, and both serving on many committees, we pray that the Lord would continue to blessour church family. Phil. 4:13

They have an 18 year old daughter that was blessed to be part of FBCM, and the youth group, for her entire life!
We consider it a privilege and honor to serve God and the church in any way we can, and are blessed to be part of the teaching team in the 10th grade.
It is our prayer that we can bring God’s wisdom and be a blessing to our youth, and be light in the world for these precious students. We love the students and want to pour into their lives and see them become Godly young men and women.
Tom works in the technology field and loves the ocean and the outdoors. Becky works in Human Resources and has a warm and compassionate heart and the gift of hospitality. Most of all, it is all about Jesus our savior, and we want to glorify, honor and put Him first in all we do!
